Hi folks! It’s nice to meet you and welcome you to our blog. We hope you find some information and tools that you find useful and that you have a little fun at the same time. We would offer you a drink if we could and invite you to sit and chat a while. Since you came to our “About Us” page, I reckon you’re here to get to know us a little.
<— That’s us in the picture.
The really pretty one on the right is my inspiration, my muse, my reason for working so hard and the cause of every goofy smile I wear; my wife, Rebecca Herchenhahn. She’s a paralegal right now at a law firm in Nashville, TN where she performs all sorts of legal mysticism and antics. I honestly don’t know law stuff, so it may as well be voodoo. The place where she does her best magic, however, is in the kitchen. She’s a master cheesecaker… cheesecake maker… baker? She makes amazing cheesecakes! Her cookies, cakes, brownies and lemon curd anything are the stuff of legend. Wildly creative and talented, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in crime… er, blogging. Her primary job with the blog right now is to keep me both challenged and grounded. I get a little too idealistic sometimes and start thinking I’m going to create the next Google with my food blog and then dominate the whole world as some kind of Diabolical Blogging Mad Genius Master Mind!!! Bwuahahaha!!!!! *ahem* She manages to find a way to encourage me to set real goals, achieve actual milestones and to succeed without feeding the bear too much.
And that bearded chunk of man-tastic excellence on the left; that’s me, Eric Herchenhahn, though my friends mostly just call me Herch. It’s a moniker that’s stuck with me since Junior High Football because the coach couldn’t figure out an efficient way to bark ‘Herchenhahn’, so he shortened it. Along with being the proud parents of a 17 year old guitar-playing machine named Blake, Rebecca and I own a small catering business called “The Pot Still Grill“, which we run out of our home. Currently, I’m the manager, cook, menu architect, delivery driver, accountant and web master for the business, but I’m hoping maybe my responsibilities will expand a bit as we grow! I’m also the writer, photographer and author of getNOMSblog. I got into this because after spending 12 years in a corporate environment, working in Internet Technology, I needed a change of pace. I love all things computery, nerdy and geeky; don’t get me wrong. The desk-jockying life of a cubicle monkey just isn’t my passion (no offense intended to the cubicle monkeys out there; lots of folks enjoy that work!) I love feeding people. I love the environment that good food creates; family, friends and laughter. I enjoy the service to others that comes with preparing a meal for them. Mostly, I love sharing all of these experiences with the pretty girl in that picture with me. We’re working together on these things to build something for our family; something upon which we can hang our hat and call our own.
